Women’s Fashion : Tips For Looking Good On A First Date

First dates can be stressful enough so the last thing you need to be is worried about what to wear. Making a good first impression is of course important but you don’t want to dress in a way that just isn’t your style to try to make someone like you. You’ll want to be at ease, wearing something that you find comfortable and then it will be your personality and charm that does the talking and not your clothes! Your clothes reveal something of your personality so it’s vital that you stick to being yourself – if you try to impress with a vampish skin tight dress or pretend to be a floaty dress kind of girl when you usually wear t-shirts and jeans you’re setting your date up for future disappointment if you’re looking to make the relationship long term.

Dressing appropriately for the occasion is the number one rule to follow on a first date. You don’t want to look too over done for an informal date to the cinema and likewise if your date will involve a certain amount of walking you won’t want to be struggling to keep up with him in a pair of sky-high heels. Also consider the weather, in summer you won’t want to be overdressed as the hot, sweaty look is not a good one for a first date or if it’s the middle of winter shivering and feeling uncomfortable in a skimpy dress for a few hours will distract you from the date.

You may want to turn on your charms to their full extent but showing too much flesh on a first date is a definite no-no and it may come as a surprise to find out that lots of men find too much flesh on display on a first date a turn off. You could send out the wrong kind of signals if you expose too much flesh so it’s important to tone it down a bit. Save that look for a future date when you really want to keep him hooked! That doesn’t mean that you should dress too conservatively just don’t overdo it.

Another tip you may want to consider is to avoid wearing certain items of clothing that regularly top the list of the most hated clothing women wear. A recent poll showed that women’s’ fashions men particularly dislike include leggings, dungarees, mannish tuxedo style trouser suits, harem pants, Ugg boots and gladiator sandals. That’s not to say that every man will hate these items but it pays to tone down a high fashion look for a first date just to be on the safe side.

The final first date fashion tip is to emphasize your best features. If you have a curvy figure then a hint of cleavage and an outfit that accentuates your waist is a good choice. Perhaps your long legs are your best feature? Or maybe you have a cute behind? If you wear something that shows off a good part of your body to its best without revealing too much flesh you can look sexy and feminine but not too over done.
