Dating Ps & Qs
So finally you got yourself a date? Congratulations! But tread with caution. The challenge is still on. In all likelihood, your date is trying to know you better on the first date in order to decide upon the future of the relationship. So ensure to make a great first impression.
The first rule is to show up on time. Don’t ever make the mistake of expecting your lady to wait at the restaurant feeling embarrassed staring at other guests while you arrive in style probably an hour later than expected. This would surely spoil your chances. So if you want to make a good impression, remember to respect your date’s time.
The second major rule to remember is to be well groomed. Being casual in approach is a good thing as long as you know where to draw the line. Ensure that you smell good and do not dress up like a rock star. The best bet is to dress in decent casuals that are not too much on the wild side.
The next important thing is to make your date feel comfortable. Smile as often as you can, and make eye contact. Remember, eyes can communicate better than words.
Never force your date to drink. Just ask politely. If she refuses, offer her a soft drink, but never force. A lot of ladies prefer not to drink on their first date. It is important for women to develop a sense of comfort before they can enjoy a drink with someone. And in case you drink, remember not to over-indulge. It is best to refrain yourself especially on the first date, unless you want to make it the last date.
Wanna ask her for a dance? Again the same rule as in the case of drinks. Do not force. The lady will make it more than obvious if she is comfortable about it or not. The worst mistake is to drag her to the dance floor against her wishes. Most girls find that very offending.
While ordering food, offer her the menu and let her choose the food. In case she is hesitant, ask for her preference and then order on her behalf. But do ensure to ask her in case she is allergic to any food item. You surely do not want any health issues on the very first date.
Last but not the least; avoid bragging about your past relationships. Most guys have a tendency of trying to impress their dates by bragging about their past relationships or flings. And most girls find that very irritating.
Above all, keep the atmosphere cool and casual. Just talk about light matters and try bringing a smile on your date’s face.
